MERC a.k.a. Mike Mercandetti, is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer dedicated to fighting obesity and helping others achieve their fitness goals. MERC has also completed the extensive Precision Nutrition Certification. Mike also trains as a Tier III + Trainer at EQUINOX Fitness. Mike wasn't always fit. A few years ago, Merc was over 45 pounds overweight and lived a sedentery lifestyle. Merc has changed his lifestyle and wants to help you do the same! Merc likes to train at home as much as at a gym. Mike is also an active student of Wing Chun Kung Fu under Six Harmonies Kung-Fu in Chelsea Studios NYC.

work with you, motivate you and get you results! Merc will train you at a gym, your home or when weather permits, outdoors.
MERC's philosophy on fitness is based on proper science and nutrition.
Nutrition is essential! Without properly fueling the body, long term results will not be maintained let alone achieved. The better food you eat both in terms of choice and quality, the better you will be. Just as in training you want to utilize exercises that maximize results, same is true with the foods you eat. Therefore, Merc recommends you eat the most nutrient dense food you can afford: high quality grass fed, free-range meats, wild caught fish, healthy fats like extra-virgin (first cold pressed) olive oil, organic virgin coconut oil and milk, local organic vegetables (especially kale) and local organic fruits.
The first component of any of Mike's personalized programs is proper form when conducting any given exercise. Form is the foundation; without proper form, the rest will collapse. From that foundation one must build endurance. Whether your goal is weight loss, hypertrophy (muscle gain) or improved athletic performance, the better cardiovascular and muscular endurance, the more work can be accomplished per workout in a shorter period of time.
The second component is customization of all fitness programs tailored to your individual needs and fitness goals.
The final key component is mental attitude. MERC is a firm believer that ones mental attitude affects all aspects of life including how your body handles nutrition and training.
